HDRsoft has released Photomatix Light, a simple standalone HDR (High Dynamic Range) photo processing application. The company says that Photomatix Light is designed for photographers who want a clean, straightforward introduction to HDR, but is powerful enough to produce superior-looking results.
Based on the same internal HDR processing engines as the highly feted Photomatix Pro, Photomatix Light merges bracketed photos and processes them with HDR tone mapping or exposure fusion methods. After selecting the source photos, users can adjust the processed image by changing various settings, or choose from built-in presets such as Painterly or Grunge. Photomatix Light automatically aligns bracketed exposures, allowing hand-held photographs to be used as well as tripod-mounted shots.
Photomatix Light costs $39 (around £24) and is available for Windows XP/Vista/7 and Mac OS X 10.5/6.
