Say goodbye to post-Christmas, dry January blues. This Airbnb has brought the joy of the outside world inside to create an elaborate natural haven for guests this weekend, making us truly green with envy – we’re guessing along with the other 3,000 people who’ve viewed the house online in the past week.
The Outside In house is collaboration between Pantone and Airbnb to showcase Pantone’s colour of the year – Greenery.
Described as a zesty yellow-green shade that speaks to our desire to return to nature to replenish and energise, Greenery has set an environmental focus for 2017. Announced at the end of last year, the concept of Greenery is projected to spread across fashion and interior design sectors.
Outside In is a Clerkenwell house listed live on Airbnb to book for overnight stays, where guests will be overwhelmed with a sensory earthy experience.
The home has undergone an incredible transformation into an indoor oasis including a woodland reception, indoor greenhouse that doubles as a dining room, garden bedroom with a mown lawn, topiaries and soporific plants, a tented nook for children to sleep in and an herb garden.
On top of the natural installations, guests will hear soft sounds of nature, and are invited to use the herbs and drink tea with leaves picked from a hydroponics installation, choose plants to make terrarium vases and picks leaves to design prints.
Guests can take showers in the rainforest room or use a bath downstairs designed as a tropical lagoon, even featuring a living moss bath mat.
Guests will be greeted with locally-made Greenery-coloured juice, along with locally made teas, coffee, granola and bread also provided.
Airbnb Experiences were also on offer, but have all been sold out now (no surprises there). Essentially these will be workshops with expert hosts held during the weekend, with topics ranging from how to create a sustainable terrarium to making gin from scratch.
However you can still book a night at the Outside In house, which sleeps four, here. The experience will put you £200 out of pocket, but all proceeds will be donated by Pantone to the American Institute of Graphic Arts.
The house has been teamed with Airbnb’s recent Trips initiative – introduced to immersive travellers in communities around the globe to encourage them to try something new.
The campaign also aims to bring a calm, cleansing and revitalising experience to the gloomy days of January, ushering in a positive outlook for the year ahead.
