Andrew Rae, Alice Bowsher & Alec Doherty’s playful illustrations for Byron Hamburgers’ new site

The three British illustrators create humorous characters to help navigate customers around the fresh website and takeaway platform.

Illustrators Andrew Rae, Alice Bowsher and Alec Doherty have created a series of cheerful and cheeky character illustrations scattering Byron Hamburgers’ fresh new website and simplified user experience.

The popular British burger joint wanted new visuals to help customers travel around the website in a more exciting way. Move over boring arrows and navigation methods.

Independent creative studio Clubhouse Studios are the driving force behind the new website and takeaway platform. The agency produced typography, animated type and a fresh UI to create a new customer experience for the brand, which you can read more about here.

Clubhouse Studios commissioned Andrew, Alec and Alice (they must love alliteration) to create images that served a functional need on the site - from simple "visual flourishes" to announcement messages and alerts.

The illustrations are true to the cheeky nature often seen in Andrew Rae (aka Moonhead Studios) and Alec Doherty’s work. From astronauts to deliverymen, to detectives trying to capture a hamburger – the characters are charming.

Making a booking, contacting a restaurant or browsing food and drinks on offer are functions  that have been adapted to the customer based on their context, location and device. By doing this, Clubhouse Studios says it's more than halved the number of steps needed to complete online tasks compared with the previous interface.

The new UI for Byron Hamburgers takes on a youthful and light-hearted nature.
