Pixelmator for iPhone: the drawing, painting and photo tool comes to your phone

The Pixelmator Team has released Pixelmator for iPhone, an image editor with 'desktop-class' tools.

Mobile photographers will find photo-editing tools to touch up and enhance photos right on the iPhone.

Pixelmator features powerful colour adjustment tools, precise retouching tools, Metal-based distort tools and a wide collection of effects.

For mobile painters, Pixelmator features more than 100 double-texture brushes, some innovative colour-picking tools, and an impressive, OpenGL ES- and A8X-based Paint Engine, which offers real-time responsive painting

Mobile painters can choose from realistic to fully stylised brushes of all sizes and shapes to subtly enhance images or to create masterpieces from scratch.

The company said Pixelmator also provides a number of ways to pick colours easily and with great precision.

The developers claim this is one of the most powerful layer-based graphic design apps for iOS, allowing you to combine words, shapes, and images to create iPhone-based compositions. You can also use pixel-accurate selection tools to select and edit areas of an image.

Smart alignment guides help create a perfect image composition, while the app also lets users merge and organise image layers, apply Layer Styles, and Blending modes.

Pixelmator  delivers a native iOS 8 user experience, taking full advantage of iOS features and technologies for its editing tools.

In addition to features such as iCloud Drive, Handoff, Document Picker, and the Photos app editing extension, Pixelmator for iPhone is engineered to use the full power of 64-bit architecture, Grand Central Dispatch, NEON, OpenGL ES, Core Image, and Metal.

Pixelmator for iPhone is a universal app. All Pixelmator for iPad owners will get Pixelmator for iPhone.

“We are super excited to introduce a world class, advanced image editor for iPhone,” said Saulius Dailide, one of the founders of the Pixelmator Team. “Our team created the first-ever mobile image editor that has all the tools you need whether you are a mobile photographer, mobile painter or a mobile graphic designer.”
