Serbia-based artist and graphic designer, Dragan Djurdjevic, describes his work as a visual representation of every day situations, connections, emotions and relationships.
"Using ink to draw on paper or combining various media is my way to show different states of mind," he tells us. "I draw or paint or make mixed media pieces because I need to combine my inner world with the material world."
Here, Dragan shares his portfolio with Digital Arts.
Where did you train?
I studied at Applied Arts at Belgrade's Department of Graphic design.
What kinds of materials and technology do you work with and why?
I use ink on paper to draw. When making digital art I draw on a Wacom tablet and use Photoshop. I like the opportunities that technology gives you to express yourself, and of course, it's always fun to play with a drawing tablet and Photoshop.
What's your favourite piece of work and why?
I like my drawing titled "Little girl" and one digital artwork names "Rip artist."
Who and what are your biggest influences?
There are so many of them, but if I had to pick just a few I'd choose: Albrecht Dürer, Van Gogh, Ilya Yefimovich Repin, Alessandro Bellucco, Tai Shan Schierenberg, Federico Lombardo, Eric Fischl and Alessandro Papetti.
What would be your one piece of advice for creative aspiring to work in the design industry?
Less is more. Keep it light and simple.
What has inspired you most recently?
Everyday life inspires me. Everything that surrounds me.
What are you working on now?
I'm doing a couple of things. I've just finished designing the catalogue for one exhibition that will be held in Bosnia. I'm also painting, drawing, designing and illustrating a 'Book of Aphorisms'.
What is your dream commission?
I wish to create some illustrations for The New Yorker.
Self Portrait - Often I represent myself in my work. I like to play with my portraits and represent them in different ways.
Boy with Cat - Digital art representing sad little boy with his cat.
Evil Boy - Visual representation of bad parenting and education of a little boy
Mother - I just wanted to play with my mother's portrait in digital media.
Rip artist - A representation of the position and status of an artist in Serbia.
Sister - a sketch of my sister.
Sister and smoker - a double portrait of my sister and how smoking effects her.
